The wonderful thing about the Internet and blogging, is that it’s made it even easier for moms to share all their ideas, tips, and warnings. I wanted to capitalize on that by asking moms their responses to various questions.
This week’s question: What is your best money-saving tip at the grocery store?
C. Lee Reed
Hands down, do not go to the store or take children to the store when anyone is hungry. Every item will look delicious and alluring and you will spend more money. Have a great breakfast, organize your coupons and list and when at the store, do not deviate from it.

ave several recipes that you’re willing to make so that you can buy what’s on sale. Too often we go to the store with a specific recipe and then have to buy whatever we need rather than what’s on sale.

Prioritize your organic purchases. Save your organic dollars for raw fruits and vegetables. Processed organic food, is still processed, period, don’t spend the extra money. Buy conventional processed and organic raw.

Use your weekly adds to save money! I have never been a couponer but just by using my local grocery ads and making meals that consist of things on sale saves me so much money! I also love to price match when a store has that kind of policy and just by doing that I save 50 to 70 dollars per grocery trip.

Only buy what is on the list, bring a list with you! Plan your meals ahead of time!
I have a local store that marks down bread milk eggs and different items, that is the 1st place I go and you have to know the best time and day to go ~ I usually go around 10 am
during the day and after 6pm in the evening~ it is great and the savings are huge!!! When I hit the jackpot I will stock up
Jennifer Tankersley List Plan It, LLC
Never go to the grocery store without a menu plan and a grocery list. A person without one or the other will spend more each time they step foot in the store on unexpected purchases or impulse items.

Eat before you shop! Never shop when you are hungry because you’ll buy the entire store!

MENU PLAN…Plan out your meals for the week and then you only have to go to the grocery store ONCE! For example, I just did a Costco run on Monday, I bought carrots, onions, chicken, brocolli, sausage and spinach and a rotissery chicken…I made three different meals that incorporated all or some of the items I purchase!

Shift brand loyalty. Brand loyalty to a certain type of detergent, deodorant etc will single-handily cost families money every month. Try a new brand, shop around and any one can save lots of money, (with coupon in hand of course).
Tanja Diamond, The Tantra Teacher, C.Ht, NLP, creator of Modern TantraT and Tantra for BusinessT
Shop for all your non perishables one time a month and at stores like Costco. Make a list and stick to it.

Most folks say leave the children at home. But my boys are fine, its my husband that puts random boxes of HFC cereal and Air Heads and random Guitar Magazines.
I am going to say, go alone, even if you do have the sweetest husband and children in the world. Just go alone.
Peace,
Pam
